What is Valorant?
Valorant isn’t even live yet and it’s already breaking records. Over 1.7 million single-day viewers tuned in to Twitch to watch players with Valorant beta access. They watched a total of 12.2 million hours of gameplay! The potential for this game is sky high.
Brought to you by the creators of League of Legends, Valorant is a tactical shooting game. Its gameplay is roughly inspired by that of CSGO, Rainbow and Overwatch.
This fast paced 5v5 game features 5 unlocked playable characters with 5 more to unlock. All of these characters have unique abilities. Each character has a powerful “ultimate ability” (takes multiple rounds to charge up and is achieved by completing objectives or getting kills) and a “signature ability” (automatically usable each round). You also have the option to buy two more abilities at the beginning of the round (i.e grenades in CSGO).
Other than killing the opposing team, the main goal of the game is to defuse the bomb that the attacking team has set. Failing to defuse the bomb in time will lead to a loss. Valorant is currently in a closed beta with an official launch date set for “sometime in the summer”.
How to Get Valorant Beta Access
Currently, if you want to join in on the fun and get your own Valorant beta access account, you need to do the following steps:
- Sign up for a Riot account
- Register for Twitch
- Link your Twitch and Riot accounts
- Watch closed beta Valorant streams on Twitch
Once you’ve completed these steps, you will maybe become eligible for a Valorant beta invite. There are no guarantees and no time frames.
